Founded in 1972, Bodegas LAN's story has been closely linked to the land. A name - LAN - composed of the initial of the three provinces that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja: Logrono (now La Rioja), Alava and Navarra.
The 72 hectares of Vina Lanciano vineyard is one of the most spectacular vineyards in the region, located on a bend of the River Ebro. The vines are divided into 24 plots of different soils, grape varieties and aspects so that each can be hand picked at perfect ripeness. The bodega's barrique cellar offers an impressive spectacle: up to 65,000 oak barrels can be stored. Oak ageing is an important element for RIoja wines and LAN is one of the pioneers of hybrid barrels that combine American oak staves - giving vanilla elegance - with French oak bases, which provide touches of spice.
