Dievole

Dievole was founded in 1090 with a contract between two farmers who had rented one hectare of vineyard in exchange for two chickens, three loaves of bread and six Lucchese silver coins. The place was called Dieulele, which is Latin for Dievole and is a conjunction of the Italian words "Dio Vuole" or "God's will". Dievole's philosophy today is based around: tradition (Sangiovese), nature (sustainable agriculture) and its people (knowledge).
